NBP Congratulates Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center

Congratulations TVHOC!
National Budget Planners of South Florida, Inc. is happy to share that Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center has recently been awarded grants to go towards the work of their housing counseling agency.

The Attorney General Kamala Harris granted TVHOC a $50,000 grant through the National Mortgage Settlement for California on May 10, 2013. This grant examines the use of local realtors to provide information about foreclosure recovery services to consumers that may need this. The Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center is excited to be among the 21 organizations that were chosen by the Attorney General's office to receive funding from the National Mortgage Settlement. Milly Seibel, Executive Director of Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center shares her excitement about this new opportunity and resource on the organization's website at www.tvhoc.org/.

The National Mortgage Settlement was reached in February 2012 when a state-federal settlement was announced with five of the largest mortgage servicers: Citibank, JP Morgan/Chase, Bank of America/Countrywide, Wells Fargo/Wachovia, and Ally Financial. This settlement thus benefits those who are having difficulties with their mortgage, facing foreclosure, or have lost their homes. To receive assistance, you can call the number provided by the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General listed in their article about this settlement (to view click here) to be referred to a HUD Approved Housing Counselor, such as TVHOC. On Tuesday, June 18, 2013 the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that they had awarded $40 million in housing counseling grants nationwide. These grants were given to a total of 334 organizations and the Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center was lucky to be one of the receiving organizations.
