On September 27th, 2013 NBP partnered with Tri Valley Housing Opportunity Center and attended “Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet: Job and Resource Fair” at Las Positas College in Livermore. This EDD Job Fair for Veterans, National Guard, and Reservists returning from active duty featured workshops, networking opportunities, additional employment resources. Among the attendees were potential employers and nonprofit organizations that, like NBP and TVHOC, provide training and information for all job seekers, especially veterans. A LinkedIn Workshop, job interviews, benefits training, and career information were some of the resources that were provided at the event. This job fair was hosted by Las Positas College in partnership with the Tri-Valley One Stop Career Center, Employment Development Department of California, Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce, and various state, local, and private organizations.

Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center (TVHOC) is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit housing counseling agency that offers residents expert unbiased and personalized information to guide them through the complex process of home-seeking, home-buying, or saving the home they already own.

Employment Development Department of The State of California (EDD) is one of the largest state departments, with employees at hundreds of service locations throughout the state. For more than 70 years, EDD has connected millions of job seekers and employers in an effort to build the economy of the Golden State. Las Positas College’s Veterans First Program provides support services to those who have served in the armed forces, those who are currently serving, and their families. Veterans First is responsible to the administration of veteran’s educational benefits programs. In addition, they provide career planning, financial aid, transition counseling, and other needed services for returning veterans. Tri-Valley One-Stop Career Center is a publicly-funded resource for jobs, employment, education, training, and business development in Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, and Tri-Valley communities. Since 1998 this One-Stop Career Center has provided services to approximately 4,000 local residents. Their collaborative efforts with Las Positas College include job search workshops on campus, internship programs, career fairs, and open houses.

National Budget Planners is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit credit counseling agency that celebrated its 20th year last year. Based in Livermore, CA, NBP is listed with 211.org as a local nonprofit social services agency serving Alameda County and the Bay Area. NBP provides free credit counseling, budgeting, and debt management services to veterans and their families, who may be over their heads in credit card debt.
